Policies & Important Information

ARRIVAL/ENTRANCE:

The entrance door is kept locked during classes for the safety of our students. Students must wait outside until the instructor invites you inside. We want to allow every dog to have uninterrupted class time, as well as appropriate space and time to leave.

BATHROOM:

There are outdoor green spaces for dogs to potty before, during and after class. Try to allow yourself a few extra minutes before class to allow your dog to do their business before entering the building. If they need to take a potty break during class, please let your instructor know you will be heading outside. We rent our space and want to make sure we keep it tidy for other building visitors so PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOGS. There are garbage cans outside the building where you can dispose of any waste.

ACCIDENTS:

The training space is not the same as your home and often times dogs house training skills do not hold up 100% while they are in class. We understand that accidents do happen, but please be mindful of your dog during class and promptly clean up any messes to help us keep the space clean for all students. We have cleaning supplies available for your use.

DOGS WHO NEED SPACE:

As most of you know, a lot of our dog students need space (from dogs, people, sometimes both) and we would like to accommodate that. Please be conscientious of the fact that another dog in class may not receive new people or dogs well. Do not approach without asking the owner first!

VACCINATIONS:

We require your dog to be up to date (appropriately for their age) on the Rabies vaccine as required by law; DHPP or DAPP (Distemper, Hepatitis/Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus) are required as a core vaccine either yearly or every there years, titers are accepted. For dogs attending day training, we recommend staying up to date on Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vaccine as well. Puppies are only required to have age appropriate vaccinations in order to attend classes. This may mean that they are not fully vaccinated at the start of classes. While vaccinations are important, your puppy’s socialization period is also important! We keep our facility clean with dog safe disinfectants known to kill common bacteria and viruses that can affect dogs, so that your puppy stays safe and healthy while attending classes with us.

SPAY/NEUTER:

It is not required that your dog be spayed or neutered to attend classes. If they are getting spayed/neutered, it is required to take two weeks off from class from the spay/neuter date for recovery. Makeups will be offered during other available classes as long as notice is given. If you know the date of the spay/neuter when registering for class, you may be pro-rated for a maximum of one missed week.

PAYMENT:

Payment must be made at time of registration unless you have contacted us to make alternate arrangements. We accept cash or check for continuing agility sessions (made payable to SUPERNOVA DOGS), but you must inform us ahead of time and bring it on the first day of class. Failure to do so will forfeit your spot in the class. Checks returned for insufficient funds are subject to a $30 processing fee.

REFUND POLICY:

Cancellations received less than one week prior to the start date are subject to a $25 processing fee. Cancellations received after the first week of class and prior to the second week of class are subject to the $25 processing fee, as well as the price of the class you attended. All refunds will be for the class cost only, not inclusive of the cc fee. After the second week, class fees are non-refundable. If unforeseen circumstances occur that make it impossible for you to complete the program, please contact us to discuss your options. If you cancel an appointment, refunds are not automatically generated, you must contact the office regarding your cancellation to receive a refund.

ATTENDANCE:

If you will not be able to attend a class with valid reason (dog illness, injury, or exigent circumstances), your instructor MUST be notified as soon as possible. Dogs who are coughing, have diarrhea, or discharge from eyes or nose are required to be kept home. Absences with valid reason (medical/illness) may be eligible for makeups at the discretion and availability of the instructor. No Call, No Shows are NOT eligible for make ups; no communication with your instructor prior to start of class is considered a forfeit of that day’s class. Your class fees are for the dates specific to your class, not just the number of classes. Please keep this in mind, if you have a conflict known prior to start of session, please notify us upon registration AND your instructor on your first day. Cancellations/Rescheduling of puppy classes must be done at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time unless you are experiencing an emergency or health issue. Cancelling or rescheduling less than 48 hours before your scheduled appointment time means you will forfeit the class for that week. If you need to cancel a scheduled private lesson, you must contact your trainer via text message or phone call/voicemail at least 2 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. If your trainer is not notified with at least 2 hours advance notice, you will forfeit the session.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS:

Instructors will notify students by text message if the class is canceled (due to weather, sickness, or other exigent circumstances). Your time will be honored with a makeup, or the option to attend an alternate day/class if it is available. Scheduled closes for the center (holidays, out-of-house events, etc.) will be made known prior to the start of the session to the best of our ability.

RIGHT OF REFUSAL:

For behavior problems that are above and beyond the scope of the instructor’s training or comfort, a referral to another behavior counselor will be provided, and your instructor will be happy to consult with them regarding the issues. We reserve the right to refuse to instruct any dog we feel may be a danger to the instructor.

COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS:

Masks are optional when inside the building. Please respect fellow students who choose to wear a mask during class. Social distancing is to be maintained whenever possible. Students must wait outside until their instructor invites them in (this is also out of respect for your fellow students so their class time is uninterrupted). Hand sanitizer is available for your use.

IN-HOME APPOINTMENTS:

If you need to cancel your appointment, you must send a text message or call/leave a voicemail with your instructor at least 1 hour prior to your scheduled appointment time. If your instructor is not notified in time and arrives at your training location but is unable to conduct the session, you will be charged a $35 fee. This fee must be paid before another appointment will be scheduled.

TRAINING AGREEMENT

We are a LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) based training center; LIMA describes a trainer or behavior consultant who uses the least intrusive, minimally aversive strategy out of a set of humane and effective tactics likely to succeed in achieving a training or behavior change objective. With this, we ask that prong collars, choke chains, and e-collars, be left off your dog during classes/SUPERNOVA Adventures/any SUPERNOVA events.  We want your dogs to learn and succeed in a positive environment!  If you have any questions about this, we would be happy to talk to you about why we ask this of our students.
