PARKING:
When dropping off or picking up, please utilize the parking spaces available along the side of the building adjacent to York Street.
CRATING/REST:
Dogs will be crated for designated rest times on the daily schedule. Studies have shown that incorporating rest periods and naps into the day is crucial to their ability to absorb all of the information and retain more of what they learn. Midday rest periods also helps them recharge to continue learning and better enjoy their time in the afternoon as a full day attendee. Social engagement and physical activity can also be very stimulating for dogs and they each have their own personal thresholds. Balancing rest with social time provides dogs with the opportunity to relax and be calm which reduces cortisol levels.
VACCINATIONS:
We require your dog to be up to date (appropriately for their age) on rabies, distemper, and parvo (titers are accepted). We highly recommend kennel cough (bordetella) vaccinations, but they are not required.
SPAY/NEUTER:
It is not required that your dog be spayed or neutered to attend day school. If they are getting spayed/neutered, it is required to take two weeks off from day school from the spay/neuter date for recovery. If you have a standing reservation for day school, please contact the office to advise them regarding the dates your dog will miss during their recovery.
FEMALES IN HEAT:
We apologize for the inconvenience, but female dogs in heat may not attend day school. If your dog comes into heat when you have a scheduled appointment for day school, please contact the office to reschedule your appointment.
ILLNESS:
Dogs with contagious illnesses or parasites are not allowed at day school. Common illnesses and parasites include, but are not limited to: bordatella (kennel cough), conjunctivitus, and intestinal parasites/worms. Symptoms of illness can include: coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, discharge from the eyes, nose, mouth, and/or visible parasites in the stool.
If a dog shows signs of illness while in our care, we will isolate them from the other dogs and the owner will be asked to bring him to the vet for a check up. The dog is welcome to come back to day school only after the vet declares he or she healthy.
If a dog arrives at day school showing signs of an illness, or if a dog is actively being treated for a contagious illness or parasites, the dog is not allowed to stay at day school. This is for the comfort, health, and safety of your dog and the other dogs at day school. Please call our office at 716-573-5042 for more information about this policy.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
We request that your dog come to day school with a standard 6’ leash, a well-fitted collar (with a flat buckle) or harness, and ID tags.
If your dog requires feeding during the day, please bring the food in a container labeled with your dog’s name and feeding instructions. We are also able to administer most medications throughout the day.
Please potty your dog outside before bringing them into the building for drop off. You may use the grassy areas along the road or visit the park at the end of the street. Since we are located in a publicly shared area, we ask that all clients clean up after their dogs. As the saying goes, “If your dog poops, you scoop!” Thank you for helping to keep our neighborhood clean!
PAYMENT:
Payment must be made at time of registration unless you have contacted us to make alternate arrangements.
CANCELLATIONS:
Since we limit the number of dog’s in our day school program, appointments require cancellation at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled school day so that others may have the opportunity to schedule an appointment in your place. School days cancelled with 24 hours notice may be rescheduled for another day. For late cancellations or no call/no show cancellations, you will forfeit your reservation for the full price of the scheduled day. Emergency cancellations will be handled on a case by case basis. To cancel your scheduled appointment, call or text the office at 716-573-5042.
REFUND POLICY:
If unforeseen circumstances occur that make it impossible for you to complete the purchased program, please contact us to discuss your options.
RIGHT OF REFUSAL:
For behavior problems that are above and beyond the scope of the instructor’s training or comfort, a referral to a behavior counselor will be provided, and your instructor will be happy to consult with them regarding the issues. We reserve the right to refuse to instruct any dog we feel may be a danger to the trainer or other dogs in the day school.
TRAINING AGREEMENT
We are a LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) based training center; LIMA describes a trainer or behavior consultant who uses the least intrusive, minimally aversive strategy out of a set of humane and effective tactics likely to succeed in achieving a training or behavior change objective. With this, we ask that prong collars, choke chains, and e-collars, be left off your dog during classes/SUPERNOVA Adventures/any SUPERNOVA events. We want your dogs to learn and succeed in a positive environment! If you have any questions about this, we would be happy to talk to you about why we ask this of our students.
