Barkour
Barkour 101
Dog Parkour concentrates on developing teamwork between a dog and its human as they learn to navigate the environment in new and exciting ways. Sometimes known as urban agility, it is a challenging, but fun, physical activity which promotes the ideals of exploration. Just like in the human version, in dog parkour we work on ways to conquer obstacles, such as climbing, balancing, and jumping. Dog parkour helps with confidence and overcoming fears, and it is a low impact, but challenging activity for any canine athlete.
This sport promotes mental and physical health by regulating training methods and restricting activities by the size of the individual dog. These limitations make Dog Parkour an excellent activity for any age, mobility or breed. Dogs with disabilities of any kind are able to participate as long as they can do so safely. Parkour can be done anywhere and is limited only by one’s imagination!
Barkour 101 will provide you with an introduction to parkour behaviors, safety, handling and creative thinking. After completing the introductory class, join us for on of our Barkour Adventure Walks and try out your new skills!
Students interested in titling have the opportunity to take their parkour training to the next level through the International Dog Parkour Association. Our certified instructors will be happy to answer answer questions you may have or help you prepare to submit your title videos!

Barkour Adventure Walks
Dog parkour is a perfect opportunity for dog and human pairs who want to explore and interact with their environment in a fun, non-competitive way, focusing on consent, safety, and their relationship as a team. It’s a great activity for retired sports dogs, reactive or fearful dogs and “teenage” dogs learning to focus in public. Dog parkour is an accessible activity for all ages and skill levels. Challenge your dogs athletic ability and grow their confidence.
Our Barkour Adventure Walks offer students a unique opportunity to explore local parks, community centers, and urban areas to test their parkour skills. The group of handlers and their dogs will learn to view the natural and man-made environment in new and exciting ways while spending time with friends! Handlers and dogs are not required to have any previous parkour knowledge or experience as our certified trainers will provide instruction on each walk.
Our adventure season starts in April and wraps up in late October, with one walk typically scheduled each month. Check out our Upcoming Events page for more information about our next adventure!
